In Spiritual terms, “EMPTY” is NOT a bad thing. One of the goals of all spiritual paths is to empty ourselves of our fear, ego, self talk, etc. The masters over the ages have advised us on quieting the “monkey mind” that seems to distract us and keep us stuck in old patterns and pain. All my life I have LOVED sitting in a quiet empty church (or even auditoriums). There is something healing about sitting in sacred space in the stillness and quiet, while soaking in the years or even centuries of hearts, minds, bodies and souls who have contributed their prayers to the energy of the place.
I had a pretty intense moment the other day when I took a walk over to Brick Chapel to get a winter photograph for our potluck flyer… This intense yearning to worship “All That Is” or Whatever name you want to give to whatever it is that CREATED us! and the world and the Universe…
A longing to have a place where I can be authentically ME even with all my weaknesses, foibles, failures and imperfections. I long for a community that accepts me as I am rather than a place where I have to always watch what I say and be hyper vigilant to being on my best behavior.
I feel called to be a part of this little historic church that is closed right now for the winter, but that I IMAGINE to be filled with song and love and laughter at some point year round.
As I have said frequently before, I can not separate my music, my call to sustainable agriculture and my spirituality into 3 separate things… for me they are all One….
3 things that are One thing…. hmmmm why does that sound familiar?
I’m tempted to apologize for getting emotional in this one. But I’ll resist that old pattern and instead accept that not everybody’s gonna get me and leave it at that.
my wish for you my friend is that you can find or build a spiritual home for yourself somewhere vibrant and alive and safe and accepting.
Peace, Love & Groovyness!
